Man rescued from water in Keynsham park

A MAN trapped waist deep in the River Chew had to be rescued from rising water late last night, according to the Avon Fire and Rescue Service.

Specialist fire crews pulled the man, believed to be in his 20s, to safety after they were called to the emergency in the Memorial Park, Keynsham, at 10pm.

Crews from Keynsham and Temple were joined by a specialist boat team from Bedminster.

The water rescue crews used lines and long poles to free the male from near the Bath Hill bridge before leaving him with the ambulance service.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said the man was "slightly hyperthermic" when paramedics reached him. He was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
