Man racially abused TV licensing officer
A St George man racially abused a TV licensing officer when he came round to discuss his licence.
Lawson Doncaster said he didn't want to talk to a "Paki" when the enforcement officer came to his home in Clouds Hill Road on July 31.
Doncaster, 42, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour when he appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court.
His case was adjourned until September 7 for a pre-sentence report.
He was released on unconditional bail and could go to prison for the offence.
Nisha Patel, prosecuting, said: "The TV licensing officer attended the defendant's house to talk about the TV licence.
"The defendant had a very aggressive manner, with clenched fists and hunched shoulders. He shouted racist abuse; 'I don't speak to Pakis, you brown **** get out of my premises'.
"He led the victim to believe he was going to be head-butted. He continued the abuse on the pavement despite the officer trying to calm him down.
"A number of people came out of the pub nearby and this made the defendant more angry. He continued to shout up the road.
"The officer didn't feel he could return to his car until his manager arrived."
Doncaster was arrested and at interview said: "I'm as guilty as sin".
John Stokes, defending, said: "The offence was serious and potentially puts him at risk of a custodial sentence.
"This gentleman was a public servant. The common denominator in his offending is drink. He also has some mental health issues."
