A man in his mid-60s was taken to hospital after a fire in his home.

Firefighters were called to the property on School Road, Totterdown, at about 11pm on Saturday night.

The man was found unconscious in the living room on the ground floor of the house and carried outside, where an ambulance crew waited to take him to the Bristol Royal Infirmary.

He was still unconscious upon arrival at hospital, and no further information is available on his condition.

Fire crews found no one else in the property. The ground floor was damaged by the fire and the first and second floors were heavily smoke-logged.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
