Man fights for life after being hit by car in village near Bristol
A MAN was fighting for his life in hospital today after suffering serious head, chest and spinal injuries when he was hit by a car.
Police said it is not yet clear how the man, who is believed to be in his 20s, came to be in Station Road, Clutton, where he was hit at 1am today.
An air ambulance crew was called to the scene and took the man to Frenchay Hospital, where staff described his condition as critical today.
The road was closed to allow police investigations to take place.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokeswoman said the driver of the vehicle that hit the man had been interviewed but would not face any charges in relation to the incident.
Officers have been unable to speak to the injured man, who was unconscious when he was found.
They are now appealing for anyone who saw the incident or was in the area at the time but has not spoken to them to come forward.
