Man escapes Bristol flat fire
A man was taken to hospital suffering with smoke inhalation after a fire in a Bristol flat.
Fire fighters called to Cheltenham Road, Montpelier, at 4am today said it was believed a candle left burning in a bedroom had caused the blaze, which badly damaged the room, as well as the hallway, of the second floor flat.
The occupier, a man in his 30s, had been asleep when the fire started but was woken up by a smoke alarm.
He was out of the premises - above a chip shop - by the time fire crews arrived.
