Man dies in Frenchay hit-and-run

A man has died this morning after being knocked down in a hit-and-run.

The man, who police say was in his 70s, died at Frenchay Hospital after being hit on Frenchay Park Road - close to the hospital - shortly after 7am.

Police are now looking for the driver of the vehicle who did not stop after the incident, near the Texaco garage.

Frenchay Park Road remains closed from its junction with Froomshaw Road in Frenchay while police officers investigate the circumstances of the collision.

Avon and Somerset spokesman Martin Dunscombe said: “We believe the vehicle will have some front end damage and would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle involved leaving the area, or knows of a vehicle with recent damage to it to contact the police on 101.”

The road has now reopened.
