A MAN whose death in a flat in Patchway led to two people being arrested on suspicion of murder was 47-year-old Philip Coombs.

Neighbours and then paramedics tried in vain to save the life of Mr Coombs at the block of flats where he lived in Willow Close. An ambulance was called to the block of a dozen flats, number 22-44, shortly after 5.30am on Monday after Mr Coombs suffered a suspected cardiac arrest.

Police are still waiting for test results before a cause of death can be confirmed.

Police spokesman Martin Dunscombe said a post mortem examination has been done but further work was needed to discover why Mr Coombs died.

"We are still waiting for the results of further tests," he said.

The police have not yet formally identified the man, but The Post understands he was Mr Coombs.

Anyone with information they believe could help the investigation into his death should call the police on 101 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
