Man cut from car after lorry collision
A man was rushed to hospital after his car collided with a lorry and rolled into a corn field.
The accident happened just before 8am yesterday on the A368 between Hunstrete and Pensford.
The driver, who is thought to be his 20s, was trapped in his car, and firefighters had to cut the roof off to free him.
Ross Culligan, an officer for Great Western Ambulance Service, said: "When the crew arrived they found the car had left the road and travelled approximately 20 metres into a nearby corn field.
"They immediately requested the assistance of the police and fire service and made their way through another field so they could get the ambulance as close to the patient as possible.
"The patient was trapped in his car, and due to the location it made it very difficult to get him out.
"We were able to assess the patient and he was found to be fully conscious and his condition stable.
"The roof of the car was removed so the patient could be freed from the car and put onto a spinal board. There were three fire engines in attendance so there was plenty of man-power to help with this."
The man was taken to Royal United Hospital in Bath, where his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
