A 46-year-old man was appearing at Bristol Magistrates Court today after being charged in connection with an armed robbery at a city hotel.

Two men threatened staff at the Arnos Manor Hotel, Brislington, with a gun and an axe on Sunday, November 2, and forced a receptionist to open the safe before escaping with cash and cheques.

The man, from Radstock, has been accused of robbery and possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.
