An 18-year-old man has been charged with causing the death of Hartcliffe teenager Troy Atkinson by dangerous driving.

Mohammed Ahmed was due to appear in Bristol Magistrates court today after being charged with the offence yesterday by police.

Ahmed was also charged with the theft of a car and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

Troy, who was 15, was knocked down at the junction of Penn Street, Lower Castle Street and Broad Weir, near the Harvey Nichols store in Cabot Circus, on the evening of April 28.

He suffered severe head injuries and died shortly afterwards in Frenchay Hospital.
