POLICE have arrested a man on suspicion of stabbing both his elderly parents.

Officers were called to a "domestic incident" on Smyth Road, Bedminster, at about 5.30pm yesterday and found a man and a woman, aged in their late 70s, had both suffered wounds.

Great Western Air Ambulance also attended and took the couple to Bristol Royal Infirmary by land ambulance. A spokesman said they were not thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

Avon and Somerset police Inspector Dave Horwood confirmed that the couple's son had been arrested at the scene and is currently in police custody.
