A 46-year-old man was kicked and beaten in a Bristol street in broad daylight.

Police yesterday appealed for witnesses to the attack in the High Street, Shirehampton, on Monday between 3pm and 4pm.

The victim was assaulted by a man who grabbed him around the throat and punched and kicked him about his head and body.

The attacker was white, in his late 20s to early 30s and wearing a white T-shirt and shorts.

His victim was not seriously injured.

A man, aged 29, arrested in connection with the incident, is currently on police bail.
