Man appears in court over Troy death
Mohammed Ahmed, aged 18, of Eastville, appeared via video link at Bristol Crown court charged with causing the death by dangerous driving of Troy Atkinson, 15, of Hartcliffe, who died on April 28 after being hit by a car near Cabot Circus.
Ahmed also faces charges of taking a vehicle without consent, failing to stop after an accident and driving without insurance.
The teenager, wearing a grey sweatshirt, only spoke to confirm his identity during the five minute hearing.
Judge Simon Darwall-Smith remanded him in custody to HMP Bristol pending a plea and case management hearing on September 7. The judge made an order banning publication of Ahmed's address.
