Malin takes the honours in Avon Angling Midweek Open
WEST Pool came up with the top five weights in the Avon Angling Midweek Open, fished at Shiplate Farm, Bleadon, near Weston-super-Mare.
Top of a good set of weights was Dean Malin, who fished maggot over maggot along the far bank at peg eight and brought 87-8-0 of quality carp and silverfish to the scales.
Maver Bathampton's Craig Edmunds won Hawthorn Lake with 42-15-0 of quality carp, plus a 16-1-0 winning silverfish catch of skimmers and big bream, which he tempted from peg eight with caster and maggot.

Local rod Dave Wride knocked-up his third successive win in Acorn Fishery's Tuesday Tenner series of matches, fished on Paddock Match Lake at Kingston Seymour. He poled soft pellet into both the island and lakeside margins of peg 15 and weighed in 59-4-0 of carp to almost 6lb, plus 8-6-0 of skimmers and f1s.

Bob 'The Bread' Price found good form and almost doubled the weight of his nearest challenger in the Bitterwell Lake Monday Winter Series.
He poled maggot over a light feed at nine metres centre off peg six and weighed in a carp and silverfish mix totalling 27-1-0.

Local rod John Andres weighed in a 10-9-0 winning catch in the Bitterwell Lake midweek 'Silvers Only' match. He poled caster and worm over a chopped worm feed at 12 metres centre off Road Bank Three to tempt quality skimmers and roach weighing up to 1lb.

Twenty competitors fished Bathampton AA's 24-hour carp match at Hunstrete and helped raise £100 for the Clic Sargent charity.
Only five carp were caught during a bitterly cold night and day at Main Lake and it was the capture of two fish totalling 35-14-0 that gave Bristol's Jamie White a comfortable victory.
