Make hunt law better
Despite the desperate efforts of the hunting lobby to undermine the Hunting Act, the aim of the legislation remains unchanged, and that is to prevent the unnecessary suffering inflicted on our wild mammals by those who hound them to a savage death in the name of "sport".
We have seen that the current legislation can achieve this aim in certain circumstances but the so-called "trail hunts" have continually bragged about the way they can exploit certain exemptions in the legislation to allow them to hunt live quarry as before.
The reaction to this situation, from any logical standpoint, is to tighten these exemptions.
This is precisely what the wildlife campaigning group Protect Our Wild Animals is proposing, in the form of five straightforward changes to the legislation, endorsed by their lawyers, which will close the loopholes and make enforcement far easier.
We can be truly proud to have lived at a time when this overdue reform was made law and the Hunting Act is good legislation. Now let's make it better.

“:| Woman catches bovine TB from garden badgers.
by Caroline Stocks 26/09/2008
FARMERSweeklyinteractive.
A former veterinary nurse who contracted bovine TB is believed to have caught the disease from badgers that strayed into her garden.
In a leaked report, scientists said badgers were the "likely source" of bovine TB infection in a woman in Cornwall last year.
Her daughter and her dog also tested positive for the disease.
The report, which has been submitted for possible publication in scientific journal Thorax, has raised fears over the threat of bovine TB to human health.
The report found the infection was the strain found circulating in cattle and badgers in south west Cornwall.
It concluded the most likely cause of infection was due to an encounter with badgers "known to inhabit her garden".
A source from the NFU said the woman could have inhaled urine from infected badgers after touching grass or soil.
Bovine TB is known to spread to humans but occurrences are rare.
In 2006 and 2007, there were 20 cases nationally of bovine TB in humans, with eight of these in the south west of England.
Prior to this case, only two cases of bovine TB had been found in dogs in the past 20 years.”

“:| I really do hope no child or animal of yours ever contracts TB of either strain Justin. .The child will take months and months to recover, and the animal will have to be put down. . You're going to feel so bad if it ever happened; and deservedly so!”

“Even a leading high profile anti like peter bunce admits there is a fault with the Hunting Act. And it was his organisation that helped to waste all that tax payers money writing it! well done peter- good work,. Thanks for the mess you and the anti hunt lot have caused. Hey, heres an idea, why don't you just stay home this weekend instead of bothering and harrassing hunters who are mainly farmers, housewives and little children!”

“I love Gill for her dedication to lost cause and her abundant optimism. If leaked memos coming out of LACS are to be believed, and there is no reason not to, even the executive have given the Hunting Act up as a lost cause. The CPS decision not to appeal the overturning of the prosecution of Tony Wright has just about blown the whole thing out of the water. The acts have never been about animal welfare if so LACS would have gone for a total protection order on foxes it has always been about people. I look forward to the time when LACS goes head to head with the RSPB on the issue of fox and vermin control. As far as I see it it is mindless stupidity. Surely there are more pressing issues for this countries government to discuss.”
