MPs must back track expansion
HOW very encouraging it was to read that Gloucestershire County Cricket Club and Stephen Williams MP are supporting the Greater Bristol Metrorail campaign particularly in relation to reopening a station at Ashley Hill.
One of the key components of the Metrorail campaign is to reinstate four tracks at Filton Bank. This would facilitate a 30 minute cross city service between local suburban stations. Although the four tracks featured in your photograph, it was not picked up in the article.
Friends of Suburban Bristol Railways (FOSBR) believe the Government should include provision for four tracks at Filton in its High Level Operating Strategy funding programme to be decided in June.
Failing that, it should be included in the specification for the rail franchise renewal in 2013.

Mr Williams and our other local MPs should, therefore, be giving their support to secure four tracks at Filton bank whenever they get the opportunity.
