PASSENGERS arriving in London from Bristol have been snubbed by a multimillion pound station upgrade, an MP has claimed.

Stephen Williams said the section of Paddington station for people from the South West was “dismal” and called on Boris Johnson to improve it.

In an Early Day Motion tabled at Westminster, the Liberal Democrat said the recently-restored section of the famous station was “now brightly painted and shedding light onto the platforms and concourse.”

He said this contrasted with “the dismal experience of the Bakerloo line station below, where crowded conditions and peeling paint are a poor point of arrival and departure for passengers from Bristol, Bath, Cardiff, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and other parts of the country served by Paddington.”

His petition, signed so far by three other MPs, urged the Mayor and Transport for London to “schedule a much needed programme of works and renovation to improve the experience for millions of commuters and visitors to London from the West Country and South Wales.”
