Lydney see off fellow strugglers Bridgwater to move out of drop zone

Lydney 41 Bridgwater 12: Lydney moved out of the National Three South relegation zone with this victory over fellow strugglers Bridgwater, scoring five tries and earning themselves a bonus point.

Chris Holder's try, converted by Mark Davies, put Lydney ahead after just four minutes, with Davies extending the lead with a 35-metre penalty.

Bridgwater hit back with some powerful forward drives but they missed two penalty chances and Lydney made them pay when Davies put over a 35-metre penalty.

Lydney's pack were dominating possession and a forward drive saw George Porter claim the touchdown for Lydney's second try.

Two minutes later, Davies put Lydney further ahead with his second penalty but, right on half-time, lock Daniel Hodges narrowed Lydney's lead when he forced his way over for a try for Bridgwater.

The second half started with Lydney on the attack again, and Tony Wicks finished off another good move, going over from Mike Rinaldi's pass, with Davies adding the conversion. Mark Lee scored a fifth try for Lydney, with Davies again converting.

Bridgwater completed the scoring with Daniel Kemmish's late try near the posts was converted by Luke Cozens
