Lycra-clad louts are taking over
BRISTOL City Council has spent years funding idiotic projects and anti-car schemes. As a result, council services to the needy young and old in our city are being decimated due to the lack of funds.
And £24 million of our taxpayers' money is being spent to turn Bristol into a cycling playground for the fit, healthy, affluent middle classes regardless of the impact on anyone or anything else.
These tax-payer funded lycra clad louts have spent the last 14 years "saving" the planet by not using cars as they abuse anyone who must use a car for such essential travel as work or hospital visits.
They have taken over local amenities that used to be public friendly. The old Bristol to Bath railway track, Leigh Woods, the Avon Walkway and Ashton Court estate have all been badly scarred by cycling louts as they trash pedestrian paths making them fit only for cyclists, or gouge cycle tracks through the woodland for their hobby.
So how do these sanctimonious, car-hating people travel the few miles from Bristol to one of these once peaceful, public amenities/green spaces. Incredibly they often travel by car to fill up the car parks so that the rest of the population cannot even gain access to these amenities. The young, the old, the infirm, the family and pets must all be socially cleansed so that cycling hobbyists can come first. And before the army of publicly funded cyclists hurl abuse at me alleging false claims and exaggerations, can I suggest that they go to the Ham Green end of the Avon Walkway where the car-park is now assigned for "Cyclists Only".

“Brian Rogers, well "old deranged chap", you have done it again. Your moans, groans and other comments about cyclists have annoyed people once again, myself included. Perhaps I should realise by now that you are what you are and that you may be in need of some counselling.
Some of your observations are true and pertinent, especially towards the cyclists that flaunt the law with regards to their non-observation and following of the road traffic acts. Your other comments, which I now regard as rants , need toning down a bit. If your face were known in the more aggressive area of mountain biking, you may be approached with a few "choicer " comments, since most of these cyclists are young and may be described as adrenaline junkies.
Keep up the comments though as it does stimulate opinion, but, maybe choose your words with more care as some may initiate a more aggressive response in some areas.”

I think not. And, if you could point out exactly where I said I wished to run them down, I'll donate a months wages to charity."
That would be an emphatic 'NO', then. Oh, and Spleen, posting under other user-names to try to give your pathetic argument an ounce of credibility singles you out to be probably the saddest tw*t on this website. (Cue the witty riposte, No, that would be you.)
Get back to your Dungeons and Dragons, Sonny Jim, and leave the debate to the grown ups."
STILL waiting, Spleen.”

“Amazing!!!
This is probably one of the best yet I reckon. I assume that the deranged Brian Rogers also hates hobbyist rugby and football players for daring to play their game on public fields, sometimes even "scarring the land" with white lines to mark out their pitches? Or how about runners "endangering" fatties wobbling along the pavements?
For the record I am well into mountain biking but also love cars – not only have I spent a fair amount on expensive mountain bikes but am currently looking at gas guzzling high performance Audi S3s – so which side of the fence does this put me on Brian?
The new official trails up at Ashton Court and Leigh Woods (built as part of a much bigger enterprise) are a small scale version of what happens all over the country – once the new cafe, shop and golf centre (all being built as part of the development) are open, they will be a much needed source of revenue for the local economy, while also providing facilities to further encourage people (families, walkers, golfers and yes cyclists too) to get out in the open and live more healthily. If the "fit and healthy" bit is as objectionable as you seem to think it is, I hear on good authority that they will be serving chips, bacon and even chocolate too.”

“Still waiting. Any time you need a hand filling in that hole you've dug yourself, Spleen, give me a shout. I know where I can get my hands on a Sexton's shovel.”
