North Somerset Cricket Conference round-up:

Whitchurch teenager Luke Cooper, batting with a broken toe, scored 143 in his side's 248-run thrashing of Saltford Fairway in Division One of the Sunday Conference.

Cooper's innings included nine sixes and 13 fours. Ben Jefferies also contributed 71 as Whitchurch, the leaders, posted 332-5, the highest total in the Sunday Conference this season.

Saltford Fairway were dismissed for just 83, as they suffered a fourth successive defeat. Ben Lewis took four wickets.

Keynsham 2nds' 69-year-old Alan Webster made 138 in his side's 52-run victory at Downend.

He received good support from James Whetton (63), while Ben Ford was the pick of the Downend bowlers with 3-16.

Ford followed up with 89 as the home side posted 218-7, and there was a half-century for Ben Pearce.

Headley Park, who started the weekend joint top, lost by 123 runs at Dunkerton as they felt the full batting force of Gloucestershire coach Stuart Barnes, who hit 125 in his side's 327-7. The Park chased nobly, with opening bat Kevin Sheppard hitting a run-a-ball 61.

Clevedon remain just behind the leaders after beating Frome by nine wickets, their fourth win in a row. Chasing 151 to win, Hugh Foley top-scored with 72 not out for Clevedon.

Purnells secured their first win of the season with victory over Bear Flat. Aaron Redwood continued his good form this summer with 62 in the Paulton-based side's total of 227.

In the Sunday Premier League, Keynsham extended their lead at the top of the table to 12 points after beating Hinton Charterhouse by 75 runs and second-placed Knowle's four-match unbeaten run came to an end with a heavy defeat at Lansdown.

Keynsham's 195 was built around 53 from Chris Gwyther and 44 from Dave Scott. Wisden Cricketers' Almanack editor Scyld Berry was again the pick of the Chartist bowlers with 4-41.

In reply, James Gerrish and skipper Nick Lowe took three wickets each as the Chartists were bowled out for 125.

Knowle were dismissed for 130 chasing 196 to win, despite 49 from Dave Millard.

Timsbury grabbed victory from an unpromising position at Brislington. Chasing 186 to win, the Tims slipped to 74-5, before Steve Clothier and 16-year-old Adam Brinkworth, who each made 51, produced a match-winning partnership which secured the win with three balls left.

Chew Magna inflicted a third successive defeat on Midsomer Norton. Gary Filer and Lee Newport each took three wickets for the victors.

In Division II of the Saturday Conference, Knowle West seam bowler Russ Lippett took four Whitchurch wickets to bowl his side to a 63-run victory. Whitchurch were restricted to 123-9.

The win put Knowle West joint second in the table with Whitchurch, but still six points behind leaders Shoscombe Village.

Weston-super-Mare 3rds' promotion hopes took a blow as Shoscombe Village beat them by nine wickets.

Having been set 188 to win, Shoscombe reached their target inside 32 overs. Opening bat Rich Holmes hit 95 not out.

Pete Lomax top-scored with 68 for Weston, his first half-century in Conference cricket.

Grendel, for the second time this season, successfully chased a big total. They reached a target of 234, set by Stanton Drew, for the loss of just two wickets in the 35th over.

Mark Kenny scored 101 not out, his first century in two seasons, and James Neville was unbeaten on 72.

Stanton Drew's 233-4 was built around 75 from Gary Smart and 71 from Steve Croucher.

In Division 1, Dyrham and Hinton maintained their lead after a four-wicket win at home to Bear Flat, who were bowled out for 184.

Wrington lost ground on the top two sides after losing by one wicket in a thriller at Mells.

The home side, set 184 to win, had been cruising at 148-4, but the dismissal of Neil Haber for 80 and Julian Seviour for 47 precipitated a collapse brought about by Wrington youngsters Anton Lovatt and Adam Whiting.

The latter had given respectability to the Wrington innings with a fine unbeaten 51 in an unbroken 92-run, sixth-wicket partnership with Marshall Clements Junior (37 not out) after the visitors had slumped from 40-0 to 91-5.

At the foot of the table, Backwell Flax Bourton and Saltford Fairway improved their survival chances with victory against sides around them.

Backwell beat Old Bristolians Westbury 3rds by six wickets, despite Paul Millward hitting 74 for the Old Boys in a total of 194-4.

Saltford's Wes Taynton top-scored with 98 in his side's total of 267-8. Jamie Pattimore hit 54 and then followed up with 4-11 as Combe Down were dismissed for 86.
