"That's so cool!" That was the verdict of 14-year-old Lucy Bryan after being told she had won the Easy Runner athlete of the month for August.

The Bristol & West AC athlete, from Backwell, was the overwhelming choice by our judges after her marvellous victory in the Under-15s pole event at the Aviva England Athletics Championships with a new championship record of 3.48m.

Bryan also won the Under-15s event at the South West Inter Counties at Exeter and came third in the high jump with 1.48m.
