MORE than 50 timed and observation trial specialists are expected to contest the North Somerset club's hour-long event for the Ray Keedwell Transport Trophy at Stanton Wick Lane, Pensford, tomorrow.

Wessex Centre champion Shane Lovatt is expected to start favourite, but other contenders include Jeremy Cross, Paul Manning, Kerry and Mark Lawford, Tim and Jeremy Walters, and the donor's son Stuart.

Oldland Common motocross ace Joe Dark will be hoping to maintain his form in the final round of the British Under-21 Championship series at Winterbourne Gunner, near Salisbury, tomorrow.

The Meredith-backed Suzuki rider is fourth in the series and has a chance of overhauling third-placed Ashley Greedy, although the top two, Tiverton's Alex Snow and Dorset's Kristian Whatley, cannot be caught.

The Open class has already been decided, with Wayne Smith taking the title for a second year.

Many of the UK's leading spring stars will be at Smeatharpe, on the Blackdown Hills between Taunton and Honiton, tomorrow in a NSA Championship event.

Road-legal class contestants include Freddie Granger, Andy Lodge, Alan Tinnion and Kevin Curthew, while Henry Body, Dave Joyce and John Young will be battling for honours in the Vintage bike section.

Former competitors in the National West of England trial are being urged to get in touch with the organisers of this year's 75th anniversary event on October 4, regarding a reunion at a holiday camp near Ashburton after the event. For more information call Vic Ashford on 01626 332891 or Andrew Cheeseman on 01392 216624.
