For the Euro-elections on June 4, Lord Tebbit, pictured, has suggested that people might consider voting for one of the smaller parties as a protest against the corrupt practices of members of the larger parties.

Having previously exhorted the unemployed to get on their bikes to seek new work, it could be inferred that he is inviting support for the Green Party.

Apart from the desire to promote cycling, we feel we have little in common with Lord Tebbit but we welcome his interest.

Cllr Charlie Bolton, Green Party Office, Old Market Street Bristol.

“Tebbit also claimed once that the BNP was not a right-wing party and called for a "civilisation" test for British Muslims. So I'm not so sure he had the Green Party at the back of his mind when he made his recent comments.

Voters: Do The Right Thing at the election and don't be swayed by a rambling Tory has-been.”
