Lord Cotter of Congresbury will be switching on the village's Christmas lights next month.

Mr Cotter will turn on the illuminations in Broad Street at 5.15pm and at the precinct at 5.30pm on December 5.

This year, the lights have cost Congresbury Parish Council £3,000 to erect, with money towards the cost being received from businesses in the village.

Christmas trees, donated by local garden centres, will also be put up in the precinct and at the Old School Rooms.

The parish council is also inviting pensioners across Congresbury to the annual senior citizens free festive tea party at the Old School Rooms on December 13, from 3-5pm.

The party, funded by the parish council, is open to all OAPs and anyone wanting to attend can pick up a request form in either the doctor's surgery or the post office. Alternatively, they can contact Jo Duffy on 01934 838802.
