Getting there – by road: Leave M6 at Junction 31 and follow signs Left for Preston. Parking is mainly in the streets surrounding the ground.

By rail: Preston station is a mile and a half from the ground and takes around 25 minutes to walk

Biggest City win: April 20, 1985 City 4 Preston 0

Heaviest City defeat: February 25, 1955 Preston 5 City 0

How will it go by Andy Stockhausen: First game always difficult to call. I go for a narrow Preston win.

Words of wisdom: "On paper, Preston away is a tough game. But it's the first game – they don't know much about us and we don't know much about them. Anything can happen," – Bristol City goalkeeper Dean Gerken hedges his bets.

Just a thought: Preston are the only club to print an environmentally friendly match-day programme on recyclable paper.

Fancy a flutter? Paddy Power lay Preston at 11/10 to win with City at 13/5 and the draw 9/4. David Clarkson is 8/1 to score the first goal with Bet365.
