Longwell Green all set for the top-flight
Longwell Green Sports say they can't wait to take to the Premier Division stage after securing promotion.
The point gained from Tuesday's 2-2 away draw with Almondsbury was enough to win them a place in the top flight for the first time in the club's history.
With two home games remaining, against third-placed Bradford Town tomorrow and Gillingham Town on Tuesday night (7.30pm), Sports, who join champions Larkhall Athletic in making the leap, aim to bow out in style.
General manager John Gibbs said: "We've proved you can be successful without a playing budget.
"It's down to the unique culture we have here – we are a true family club – that has brought us this success.
"Our reserves won the Bristol Premier Combination (Division I) and everyone, from the chairman Chris Wyrill to the management team and players, are proud of what has been achieved."
Brothers Mark and Andy Summers are targeting recalls tomorrow while their cousin, centre-half Chris Dauncey, is also available again.
Jamie Hillman says Hengrove Athletic's ambitious ground overhaul, which is already under way, is proof of their desire to secure Premier Division football.
Hengrove, who complete their fixtures with back-to-back home games against Westbury and Larkhall tomorrow and on Tuesday respectively, are hopeful a new all-seater stand and floodlights will be in place in time for the start of the 2009-10 term, as well as new dugouts.
Hillman, whose side thumped Cadbury Heath 5-2, on Wednesday, said: "Off the field, the club are pushing forward and it's up to us to get it right on the pitch."
Keynsham Town manager Stuart Nethercott says he is thrilled by the progress made by his side, who have lost just twice since Christmas to seal a top-five berth.
"The run we've been on has galvanised everyone and it bodes well for next season," said Nethercott, who welcomes back midfielder Ian Rider for their last game of the season at Oldland Abbotonians.
Oldland are treating an ankle injury suffered by the influential Jason Side with caution ahead of their Les Phillips Cup final clash with Calne Town in a fortnight's time.
"Jason came back into the side and did very well, so we'll not be taking any chances with him," said assistant boss Martin Cutler. Versatile teenager Joe Chandler may be recalled to the side.
Roman Glass St George, who have drawn their last two games, travel to Bridport for their penultimate fixture.
