Long running dispute at south Bristol Royal Mail depot finally ends
A LONG-running dispute over working hours at a Royal Mail depot in South Bristol has finally been resolved.
Workers at the Mead Street depot in Bedminster, which serves the BS4 and BS14 postcodes, held two 24-hour strikes in December which halted deliveries to areas including Knowle and Brislington.

But on Sunday postal workers at the Royal Mail voted unanimously to accept an agreement to end the long running dispute following the involvement of ACAS.
The agreement provides for a full revision of the deliveries in the unit as well as an independent review of both employee and industrial relations at the site.

“All they've agreed to is how to have further discussions??
Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning......”

“As a customer of the Mead Street depot I can only say that on strike days our post arrived many hours earlier than it usually does. We often have to wait until well into the afternoon in 'normal' times.
Perhaps we can now look forward to earlier deliveries all the time.
For many years our postwoman (long since retired) delivered our post at 8.30am each day and you could almost set your watch by her.”
