Wiltshire motocross stars Tom Church and Stephen Sword are both competing in the seventh round of the World Championships – the British Grand Prix at Mallory Park, in Leicestershire, over the weekend.

Church rides a CCM in the Open Class with fellow Brits Billy Mackenzie, Jason Dougan, James Noble, Brad Anderson and Tiverton's Alex Snow.

Italy's Toni Cairoli comes to the venue with a 36-point advantage over Spain's Jonathon Barraghan.

Hopes of a home win in the 250cc class rest on the shoulders of Sword, Jake Nicholls and Mel Pocock, but the two half-hour races look like being a battle between French aces Marvin Musquin and Gautier Paulin, who are separated by just three points, and Italian Davide Guaneri, who is a further two points behind.

Many of Britain's classic bike motocross riders will be at Yatton Keynell, near Chippenham, on Sunday for the opening round of the National Series at Church Farm. They include Tim Manton, David Bell, Andy Roberton, Martin Coleman, Roger Dunford and Tim Dallaway.

Competitors in the West Wilts' Enduro at Naish Hill, Lacock, on Sunday will have the option of riding for two or three hours.

More than a hundred are taking part in the event over a four-mile circuit, including experts Dan Beavan, Jerry Box and Luke Stringer.

There are eight different classes, in which the main contenders are Stuart Keedwell, Dave Cole, Marcus Barnes and Terry Beecham.

The fourth round of the British Sidecar Motocross series takes place at Torrington, Devon, with all the UK's leading crews in action in three 20-minute races on the demanding Waggadon Farm circuit, which is only a mile from the town centre. There are also supporting events for solos and sidecars.

It is also a busy weekend on the trials scene.

The Yeo Vale club have an event for beginners at East Chelborough, in Dorset, this evening.

The BSSA are running an hour-long timed and observation event in Filers Woods, near Lulsgate, tomorrow and the Camel Vale, Somerton and Bath Classic clubs all have observation only events.

On Sunday, the Zona One club are running an event at Nettleton Quarry, near Birdlip, in Gloucestershire, and, in Devon, the Moretonhampstead club have a South West Centre event, near Princetown, on Dartmoor.
