Former New Zealand lock Colin Meads has more Test match appearances – 11 against the Lions than any other player.

Wales are the only home nation to have provided at least one player in everyLions Test team.

The record for most players provided by one club on a Lions tour is eight, shared by Newport (1910) and Leicester (2005).

Former Wales flanker Stuart Lane holds the record for the shortest Lions career, suffering a knee ligament injury within 50 seconds of the opening game in South Africa (1980) and then being flown home.

The last uncapped player to be selected for a Lions tour was Will Greenwood(South Africa 1997).

Willie John McBride has played in a record 17 Test matches for the Lions.

Three players have scored a hat-trick of tries against the Lions in Test matches – Frank Mitchinson (New Zealand 1908), Tom van Vollenhoven (South Africa1965) and Stu Wilson (New Zealand 1983).

Two Lions players have scored six tries in a tour match – David Duckham (versus West Coast/Buller 1971) and J J Williams (versus South West Districts1974).

The first Lions replacement in a Test match was Irishman Mike Gibson, who went on for Barry John in the first Test against South Africa in 1968.

The Lions have not won a Test match since they beat Australia 29-13 inBrisbane on June 30, 2001.

Riki Flutey will become the first player to play for and against the Lions if he plays on tour, having represented Wellington in 2005.
