Lights still out at Bristol cinema
A Bristol cinema which suffered a power cut stayed closed yesterday while engineers tried to fix the fault.
Film fans were left disappointed as they were turned away from Cineworld, in Hengrove Leisure Park, by staff who stood outside.
Closure notices were also put up when bosses were unable to get the projectors back up and running on Monday. A failure of the emergency power back-up system meant an engineer had to be called in.
Yesterday general manager Rob Steere said an engineer and parts to fix the system that charges the emergency lighting were on their way.
He said: "The original problem has been resolved, we now have power to the building, but the system that charges the emergency lighting is not working.
"The equipment and engineers are on their way to the site, but we have to take into account the charge time on the battery."
He refused to comment on how much the two-day close has cost the cinema.
The multiplex is currently showing 18 films, including Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince, Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Bruno.
A message was posted on the Cineworld website saying: "This cinema is closed due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.
"We apologise for any inconvenience."
