Lib-Dems name top team for city council
Job titles in Bristol City Council's new Liberal Democrat cabinet have been unveiled.
Under new council leader Councillor Barbara Janke (Clifton), Councillor Simon Cook (Clifton East) is deputy leader and takes over as cabinet member for culture, sport and tourism projects.

Their basic member's allowances of £11,270 a year will be augmented by special responsibility allowances of £32,272 (leader) and £20,797 (deputy). These rates will go up in April, probably in line with inflation.
Councillor Michael Popham (Clifton East) becomes executive member for efficiency and value for money and Councillor Jon Rogers (Ashley) is cabinet member for transport and sustainability.
Other responsibilities are: Councillor Tim Kent (Whitchurch Park), housing and service improvement; Councillor Clare Campion-Smith (Henleaze), children and young people; Councillor Gary Hopkins (Knowle), environment and community safety; Councillor Bev Knott (Bishopston), care and neighbourhoods.
Apart from Mrs Janke and Mr Cook, all cabinet members will be paid £19,809 a year on top of their basic member's allowances of £11,270. Again, these rates will probably see an inflation-rate increase in April.
Councillor Janke takes responsibility for strategic plans, the Bristol Partnership including economic development and the Green Capital, the budget, corporate communications and marketing, local and area agreements.
Councillor Cook's responsibilities include cultural services, arts and sport, community education/lifelong learning, including libraries, tourism, capital projects, the capital programme.
Councillor Popham: Business transformation, customer excellence programme, internal support services and Building Schools for the Future.
Councillor Rogers: Planning, transport, access and congestion, including sub-regional and citywide transport strategy, sustainable development, climate change (shared with member for environment and community safety).
Councillor Kent: Improvement, the performance plan, housing services, housing revenue account and housing activities supported by general fund.
Councillor Campion-Smith: Education services, including attainment, integrated children's social care services, statutory responsibilities of the lead member for children's services, integrated youth services, skills.
Councillor Hopkins: Community safety, including Safer Bristol Partnership and Respect agenda, waste and streetscene services, including waste strategy, parks and green spaces, public protection, licensing and environmental services, climate change (shared with member for transport), equalities and community cohesion.
Councillor Bev Knott: Adult community care, corporate older people's strategy, health promotion, neighbourhood management/partnerships and community development.
