Leeds stormed to the top of the table with a stunning 4-1 win over Gillingham.

Bradley Johnson's two first-half goals put Leeds on the way to a 15th successive home league win and Jonny Howson grabbed the third immediately after half-time.

Andy Barcham pulled one back for Gillingham but Jermaine Beckford hit the fourth 11 minutes from time.

They leapfrogged Charlton, who were held to a draw at Norwich.

Headers from Deon Burton and Jonjo Shelvey had put the visitors 2-0 up. However, Wes Hoolahan reduced the deficit seconds before the interval and Grant Holt headed Norwich's equaliser in the third minute of stoppage-time.

At the other end of the table, Southampton finally registered their first league win as ex-Bristol Rovers striker Rickie Lambert scored twice from the spot against Yeovil.

Lambert opened the scoring after Marek Saganowski was felled by Terrell Forbes. And despite a nervy display, Saints wrapped up the victory when Nathan Jones handled in the box and Lambert netted again.

The Saints are now only five points adrift of Tranmere, whose manager John Barnes will be feeling the pressure after Adam Stansfield struck twice for Exeter.

Michael Ricketts pulled one back but Rovers have now lost six on the spin.

Wycombe lost 1-0 at home toMK Dons, with Mathias Doumbe scoring the only goal of the game, and Kevin Lisbie struck twice from the spot against Hartlepool to secure Aidy Boothroyd's first win as Colchester boss.

Lisbie had missed a penalty in the first half but was given another chance when Gary Liddle felled Kayode Odejayi. And 30 seconds after the break, Liddle handled John White's cross and Lisbie struck again.

Millwall recorded their first victory in seven games, 3-1 win over high-flying Huddersfield thanks to Neil Harris.

The 32-year-old was the provider as Chris Hackett tucked the Lions ahead in the 13th minute and then notched his sixth of the campaign seconds later.

Steve Morison added a third after the break before Jordan Rhodes grabbed a consolation.

Substitute Francis Laurent hit a winner in the second minute of stoppage-time for Southend to end Brighton's run of two straight wins.

Nicky Forster had earlier scored twice to cancel out goals from Lee Barnard and Southend debutant Roy O'Donovan.

Oldham clinched a 2-0 victory over Carlisle, thanks to goals from Pawel Abbott and Keigan Parker and Stockport also recorded their first home win of the season, 2-1 over Leyton Orient.

Nicholas Bignall and Greg Tansey gave the hosts the lead before Tamika Mkandawire scored a late consolation.

Troy Deeney got Walsall off to the perfect start against Swindon but Billy Paynter, who five minutes earlier had missed a penalty, stepped up to the spot again 10 minutes from time to rescue a point for the visitors.
