Yeovil Town defender Lee Peltier admits he is relishing the competition from Craig Alcock for the right back berth.

The 21-year-old local lad is the man in possession for today's trip to Oldham Athletic.

Alcock has replaced Peltier for the last three games following the former Liverpool man's groin operation.

Peltier made his comeback as a late substitute in Tuesday's 0-0 draw at Huddersfield.

And he has been impressed by Alcock's increasingly mature displays.

"He has got the potential to be a good full back," said the scouser.

"He has done well in the three games he has played and I am happy for him and I just hope he keeps on going.

"I don't mind competition because competition is good, isn't it?

"It is up to him now to establish himself. We'll wait and see. Through my career I haven't really been on the sidelines.

"For the first couple of games it is good to see what goes on on the bench but you want to be out there playing.

"It makes me train harder to get back in the team when the lads are doing well."

Peltier is still in some discomfort from the surgery.

"It is getting there it is still a bit sore from the operation but it is OK to play with," he said.

"The guy who did the operation said it will be sore for at least six weeks but in general it is alright.

"That was the first time I have had an operation. It is a bit nerve-wracking and all the lads were winding us up but in the end it went fine."

Yeovil head for Boundary Park unbeaten in three games.

"All the lads have been working really hard," said Peltier.

"As everyone knows, we are just missing a few goals and the killer bit. "But in general everyone is doing well and the manager is happy at the minute.

"On Tuesday I thought As (Asmir Begovic) did very well and made a few great saves.

"Aaron (Brown) and Gareth (Owen) have come in and done well.

"Oldham won 3-0 (against Scunthorpe) the other day so we will just have to work hard again and hopefully nick something."

A trio of Yeovil players – Owen, Terrell Forbes and Paul Warne – will be returning to their former club today.

The game also sees Begovic complete his three-month loan at Yeovil before compatriot Josh Wagenaar takes over.

"Josh almost certainly will get his opportunity and it is up to him to take that," said assistant boss Steve Thompson.

"There is a chance Asmir could come back in January."

Meanwhile, on-loan midfielder Gary Roberts finally put pen-to-paper on a two-and-a-half year deal to make his switch from Crewe permanent.

"Since Gary has been at Yeovil we have seen him improve and become a more complete player," said Glovers boss Russell Slade.

"We still feel there is a lot more to come from him and we are expecting great things in the future."
