Launch dates set for charity food service
A CHARITY service to provide food for needy families will be launched next week.
The Somer Valley Foodbank is the 251st set up in the UK.
Volunteers from churches and other community organisations have teamed up to create the service, which will serve the Radstock area from next Tuesday. Foodbanks provide three days' supply of food to people identified by professionals such as doctors, health visitors, social workers, the Citizen's Advice Bureau or police as in crisis. They are given a voucher to take to the food bank to exchange for food, which has been collected through donations, or from supermarket collections.
