Postal strikes organised for today will go ahead as planned.
About 2,000 staff at 40 delivery depots across the Bristol area walked out at 4am this morning in the latest strike over jobs, pay and modernisation.

More than 1,500 postmen and women at the Bristol Mail Centre in Filton and the South West Distribution Centre at Severn Beach downed tools on Thursday.
Further all-out strikes have been announced.
Next Friday, 3,500 postal workers who are members of the Communication Workers' Union (CWU) will walk out, and again on Monday, November 9.
Talks between the CWU, Brendan Barber, general secretary of the TUC, and Royal Mail will continue over the weekend, and formal meetings will restart on Monday.
Dave Wilshire, secretary of the Bristol and District branch of the CWU, said: "While these new strikes have been announced, information from Brendan Barber at the TUC seems to be a bit more positive. After today it will be almost a week before any more strike action, so hopefully that will concentrate minds.
"Hopefully soon we can reach an agreement about the future."

“The package is from Vodafone and they say that they can't do anything to help.
No attempt has been made to deliver it and we have not had a delivery note either.”

“Special Delivery items are being put through the system ! I think you need to contact the person who sent the item , they will have the barcode , proof of posting which would enable you to claim the insurable value of the item . Normal postall items get held up in the striking system, but special delivery items are being given priority ! Royal Mail would not want to pay compensation, hence why items can still be sent special delivery. at a price which is still cheaper than their competitors.”

“I have to say that I supported the strikers at first but not now. They are now I think starting to have a negative effect on their own cause.
There is no point in using a service that you can not rely on. The amount of business being affected by this is riduclous and packages are not being delivered.
I have been waiting for a special delivery package for a week and told by the sender that they can't do anything and I can never get through to the local office.
I will avoid as much as possible using the post from now on. I just can't trust that my post would reach it's destination.
They are putting nails in their own coffins because the Royal Mail can not continue as it is.
Everyone is suffering from the depresssion and not getting pay rises and reduced hours in the private sector. Why should they be any different? Would they prefer to be fully privatised? Is that a good thing... no.”
