Veterans dominated the AXA 5-mile road race, with Phil Parry claiming his first victory in the long-established event.

Parry, who will be running the Bristol half marathon tomorrow, finished 1min 22secs clear of Andrew Harrison with Phil Lucker third.

Jon Goodland organised the event and then jumped on to the start line to win the over-50s prize, finishing ninth overall of the 352 finishers.

Gloucestershire runner Gwen Kinsey won the women's race, finishing almost two minutes clear of Aileen Brown.

Bitton Road Runners' Helen Hinsley was second woman (29mins 34secs) in the Arlingham 4.4-mile road race on Monday, while club-mate Pat Slavin (30:35) won the veterans' over-65s prize. Fiona Cramp was third veteran over-35 in the Battle of Sedgemoor 10k.

Wayne Ellis clocked a PB of 29:05 for eighth in the Foxtrot 5-mile race and Terry Welsh was 27th and first veteran over-60 in a time of 32:32. Karen Dawkins came 60th (36:05) was third veteran over-45, again clocking a PB.

Bristol & West AC's Kate Knowles finished fourth overall and top woman in the Telissick Estate summer 10k multi-terrain race in a time of 41mins 40secs. Yate & District AC junior Hannah Alderson was second woman in 15th overall (44:43). The race, which attracted 299 runners, was won by Cornwall AC's Ollie Shilston (36:31).

Jules Richards, of Bristol's Southville Running Club, finished seventh in the Baltonsborough 5-mile road race organised by Wells City Harriers on Bank Holiday Monday, clocking 40mins 48secs.

The host club's Andrew Hennessey (26:27) was the winner from former Bristol & West AC runner Eddie Richards (27:12). Clevedon AC's Mike Horwood (38:45) won the over-60s prize. Bristol & District Tri Club's Nicky Russell (33:12) was second woman, behind Wells City Harriers' Anna Lewis (31:55), with Thornbury Running Club's Trinity Booth (33:49) third.

North Somerset AC's Sophie Thomas clocked 14.7secs in the Under-13 girls' 100m at the Oxford Open meeting, the second fastest time of the 24 competitors. She also ran 30.1secs for 200m in windy conditions.

Simon Spedding, of Hogweed Trotters, finished ninth in the Malmesbury triathlon in a time of 68mins 05secs, with Ian Rowland clocking 71:45 and just holding off Ron White, whose time of 72.01 earned him the award of first veteran over-55. The first Hogweed lady finisher was Ali Ramsey in 82.26.
