A window pane at Bristol's new Harvey Nichols store in Cabot Circus has fallen out and injured a baby in a pushchair.

Eye-witnesses have told the Bristol Evening Post that a window panel above the glass front door in Quakers Friars fell out and glass covered a baby which was being pushed by its mother.

The child was taken away by ambulance.

Omar Ali, 23, a security guard at Hugo Boss, witnessed the incident.

He said: "The baby must have been less than a year old. There was glass all over the place, on its cheek and near its eyes.

"It's absolutely shocking. I can't believe it's happened on the second day of opening."

More to follow.

“If you are a cabot circus enthusiast:
I think that taking your kids to this shopping center is irresponsible. Not because of any technical door problems there may be at all.
Next time your in cabot circu"
look around. Do you really want to bring a child up as stupid as yoursel and the people around you?”

“I can't believe you guys are even joking on a story such as this.

I personally am finding it quite upsetting what you are saying.

Someone's baby could have died. Do you not understand this?

I am logging off because I cannot read anymore. I feel really quite sickened.”

“South West Tory Euro MP Dr Caroline Jackson could have been killed or seriously injured if she had been visiting Harvey Nics today... Why no major story on this BEP?”

“Despite all the $$$ or £££.

Lets hope these parents have not lost a child today.

A window pane smashing onto a child's tender head could leave them maimed for life, blind, disabled or even dead.

I think the last thing they will be thinking is about $$$ or £££.”

“I wonder if it fell out because she whacked it with her pushchair as she went through, either in a rush to get in or to get out? Still it would have to be safety glass (like in Car windows, so no sharp shards on it as it broke up, just lots of little pieces, which I definitely wouldn't want falling over my babby, or anyone else for that matter.”

“So, it fell out and not as originally reported. Hopefully someone will look at the security camera videos and see how it came about. No doubt the new boss will set some heads rolling!!

The wife and I looked around CC & QF last evening and thought it great to see "decent people" on the streets well into the eveining. Makes a change from all the beggers, louts and what-nots. There were a lot of security staff there last night - will they be a permenant feature? I hope so.

Anyway, hope mother and child are OK, and get a good lawyer you guys. Don't go for $$$s, go for £££££££££!! You may have hit the motherload!”
