Late entries taken for the Wessex Centre Championship series
FOLLOWING the postponement of last weekend's Kingswood Club trial at Yate, the Wiltshire Border Club's Border Cup event on Sunday marks the start of the new Wessex Centre Championship series.
However, the organisers are short of suitable terrain locally for a title round and are running at a new venue; Parklands Farm on the outskirts of Devizes on the Andover Road.
Owing to the short notice, entries are being taken on the day up to 10am, but most of the major contenders such as current and past champions Gary Marshman and Colin Crease are expected to be in the line-up with Lee Hassall, Ian Fortune, Kurt Brain and Jon Bees.
With their New Year's Day event at West Harptree being cancelled due to the weather, the Wessex Centre branch of the BSSA are staging their first timed and observation trial for the Alan Brown Trophy Filers Woods, near Lulsgate, on Sunday.

Upwards of 50 are expected to participate including Jason and Mark Hamblin, Tom Smith, Paul Manning, Jeremy Cross and Simon Peideaux.
In South Somerset, the Yeo Vale Club have a South West Centre observation only trial at East Chinnock off the A30 between Yeovil and Crewkerne.
Again, entries will be taken on the day, but the cut off time is 9.30am, 30 minutes before the start.
The Wilts and Dorset club also have a British and non-bike trial at a venue to be decided. Further details from Mr Painter 01985 216992.
