Langer: Notts are my title favourites
Somerset take on Nottinghamshire today and captain Justin Langer says the midlands side are his favourites to win the County Championship this year.
Trent Bridge often offers lateral movement for the pace bowlers, meaning a third straight Division One draw is unlikely for Langer's side.
"Trent Bridge is usually a result wicket and they have got a good bowling attack," said the former Test opener.
"It is a great place to play cricket and they are a side who, in my opinion, are probably the favourites to win it this year. We are going to have to play well to beat them."
While England's Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann are at Lord's for the first Test against West Indies, Notts can still call on Ryan Sidebottom, Andre Adams and Darren Pattinson.
Star batsmen include Samit Patel, Adam Voges, Mark Wagh and former England wicketkeeper Chris Read.
Somerset all-rounder Pete Trego will also fancy his chances of swinging the ball and he heads north in the form of his career.
Somerset were bowled out for 69 in last week's Championship game with Durham at Taunton but, after being asked to follow on, they replied with 485-5 to earn a draw.
"We had a setback that turned into a great positive," said Trego.
"At the moment there has got to be a feeling of invincibility in our dressing room.
"To have that deficit and come back against arguably the best bowling attack in the country, regardless of the wicket, it shows great character in the dressing room.
"We are going up to Trent Bridge with smiles on our faces because of what we did at Bath on Monday (thrashing Middlesex in the Trophy) and what we did in the second innings against Durham.
"Trent Bridge is a good cricket wicket. It swings and it probably suits our bowlers as well because there is a bit of pace and carry in it and we will enjoy playing there."
Fellow all-rounder Ben Phillips proved his fitness after a back spasm with 3-23 at Bath and should replace David Stiff today.
Both matches between the sides last season ended in rain-affected draws. Former Somerset opener Matt Wood is unlikely to play for the hosts.
Somerset's second eleven hosts Northants at Taunton but Andrew Caddick will not feature.
The veteran former England paceman is still troubled by a back problem after bowling in the nets yesterday.
Mark Turner will make his return to action after groin trouble.
