Landlord runs speed dating event for houses!
Housing associations across Bristol are inviting their residents to take part in a Speed Dating for Houses event to help counter the effects of the
Government's bedroom tax.
Organised by South Gloucestershire based Merlin Housing Society, the event will give people in the Kingswood and Cadbury Heath areas of the city who want or need to change their home the chance to meet other people who are looking to do the same.
If the properties match their requirements and the landlord agrees, then the people can simply swap. Residents from Merlin, United, Knightstone and Solon housing associations are being invited to the event, which happens on Thursday 21st February from 12 noon 2pm at the Cadbury Heath Youth Centre Park Road, Warmley, Bristol, BS30 8EB.

"We've got more than 550 people who are going to be affected by Bedroom Tax when it comes in on April 1st," said Rob Hawkins, Financial Inclusion Manager at Merlin Housing Society who is leading on the organisations efforts to raise awareness about welfare reform.
"They face losing up to 25% of their Housing Benefit or finding somewhere smaller to live. The vast majority need 1-bedroomed properties, but they come up so rarely.
"This way, people needing to downsize can have direct access to people from our housing association and others in the area who may be looking to move to a bigger property – perhaps because their family has grown and they need more space.
"If the event is a success, we'll roll it out across our other areas."
Residents who receive an invite to the event should contact their housing office before February 18th to book a place.
