Lambert issue set to haunt Bristol Rovers fans in January
Will he or won't he? That is the big question Gasheads are asking about Rickie Lambert as we go through the dreaded transfer window.
Lambert's goals are bound to have attracted the attention of scouts, particularly those from Championship clubs, as they look to reinforce their squads during the next few weeks.

Bristol Rovers Rickie Lambert
It must be difficult to hold on to players or stand in their way once they are tempted with big money offers.
Gasheads have seen a procession of players going through the stadium exit door – even before the days of transfer windows and player's agents. Over the years, we have been frustrated to see the likes of Nathan Ellington, Jason Roberts, Junior Agogo and Barry Hayles, just to name a few, who have flown the nest.
It would not come as a shock if Ricky was to leave. I just hope that if he does go then Paul Trollope gets a big slice of the money to strengthen the squad, and not just up front.
This time last year we were going well in the league and the FA Cup but our progress seems to have come to a standstill and it would be good to get in some new faces to freshen things up.
Whilst we have been playing some good football, the league table does not lie and the club cannot afford to be complacent as we now go through a vital month with five games against sides which are all below us in the table.
We must do well in those games or the pressure will really be on as our next five games are then all against sides fighting for promotion.
Let's hope we still have Rickie here.
I will dread picking up the Post over the next few weeks in case it tells us that he has gone.
I recall the shock I felt when, completely out of the blue, Rovers announced that Paul Randall had been transferred to Stoke City.
Oh for the days of former manager Bert Tann's unique and much maligned "no buy, no sell" policy before the ending of the maximum wage which enabled Rovers to build a great side in the 1950s.
The policy of not selling might not have gone down well with the players but it enabled Rovers to hang on to their best talent, including Geoff Bradford, a local boy who lined up alongside legends including Tom Finney and Nat Lofthouse when he played for England.
Imagine if that happened to a Rovers player now, and he lined up alongside Rooney and Gerrard before coming back to play in Division One.
You would not be able to get through the Memorial Stadium gates for the melee of agents like shoppers at the Woolworth's closing down sale.

“Bristol is much too big to not have a premiership side. It,s time to pool talent and money and have one great team that ALL of Bristol can support”

“In the Paul Randall era the Rovers facilities and set up could be compared with any in the third division. Players would only leave to better themselves with a bigger club.
Since then Cheltenham and Yeovil have reached a par with Rovers and it won't be long before Forest Green and Weymouth do so as well.
What a waste of potential.
You can bribe players to come with high wages but you can't stop them leaving if they get a chance to further their career.
Let's hope Lambert doesn't consider Peterborough are a club with better prospects than Rovers.”
