Ryan Lamb kicked Gloucester into the EDF Energy Cup final – but serious question marks still remain over his Kingsholm future.

The fly-half was restored to the Gloucester starting line-up for the first time in nine matches for Saturday's semi-final against Ospreys at the Ricoh Arena – and responded by kicking 12 points in a 17-0 win.

Lamb only played because Carlos Spencer, who has become the club's first-choice fly-half since joining from Northampton last month, was cup-tied.

Head coach Dean Ryan also recently secured the services of fly-half Nicky Robinson from Cardiff Blues – who will be Gloucester's cup final opponents at Twickenham on April 18 – for next season.

"Everyone is asking a lot of questions about my future, but I'm well focused on Gloucester at the moment and we want to finish this season off well," said Lamb, who has been linked with clubs in England and France.

"This is professional sport – and if you rest on your laurels, you're going to get someone competing for your shirt.

"It's all competition for places, but that's only healthy for a squad. Carlos has come in and has bucked my ideas up a little bit, and I think Nicky's a good player.

"I've played against him quite a few times and I've spent some time with him outside rugby and he's a good lad. I think he'll be a good asset to the squad.

"I'm just looking forward to getting out there, playing my rugby, and, if I keep getting chances, hopefully I will take them both hands.

"At the moment I'm focused on Gloucester. I think we're a side that's going places and this year is a big thing for us."

Lamb has one year to run on his contract after this season – as do Spencer, Willie Walker and Olly Barkley, all of whom can play at fly-half. And Wales international Robinson will join this summer on a three-year deal.

Head coach Ryan said: "Sometimes dynamics change and people change – and that's part of life. But at the moment we have a contracted situation with Ryan and I don't see any reason to look for anything different."

Gloucester will today assess injuries suffered by centre Mike Tindall (knee) and winger James Simpson-Daniel (quad muscle) ahead of the weekend trip to Northampton.
