Brett Trowbridge returned in midfield and Marcus Duharty and Nabi Diallo were selected to lead the attack against Tonbridge, while Kane Ingram, Sahr Kabba, Ben Cleverley, Chris Young and Marc McGregor were left on the bench.
"We are safe in mid-table and this is an ideal opportunity to give a go to some of the lads who have not featured as much this season," said Laird.
"It also helps keep the senior players on their toes and reminds them that it is a squad game."
Salisbury City defender Ryan Brett has agreed a new contract to keep him at the club until the end of next season.
Manager Darrell Clarke said: "Ryan has done well for us this season and has had to play in different defensive positions in addition to left-back. We are delighted that he will be with us next season."
The Whites are at home to Sutton today.
