Labour South Glos Councillor "unaware" of land grab proposal from South Glos
Labour Councillor Roger Hutchinson, spokesperson for transport has released a statement to say he was "unaware" of plans to try and acquire land from Filton town council to expand Filton roundabout.
In the statement Councillor Hutchinson said "As part of the building of the new acute hospital at Southmead a sum of money was committed by the NHS for changes to Filton roundabout to assist with traffic movement for patients and visitors. Whilst I was aware of this I was not aware this approach was being made to Filton town council"

Many residents have slammed the request from South Glos saying the left hand doesnt appear to know what the right hand is doing. At a full council meeting last month, Conservative councillor Rikki Teml opposed the request to handover park land saying he would stand in front of the bulldozers if need be. Full council rejected the proposal however South Glos councillors in attendance at the meeting, declined to comment on the debate.
One resident said of the statement released "All we get is reactive statements from our elected councillors who are on these committees to deal with these sorts of events. Whats the point of having them if they know nothing of whats going on"

“So councillor Hutchinson, who is on planning select committee for south glos, did not know about this, but knew about NHS funding for roundabout improvements, but didn't know what they were? Confused?
Well I must say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing but this to me means its pointless having Filton councillors on south glos at all.
No knowledge of this issue, no knowledge of the threat to close filton clinic, but lots of knowledge of how to try and keep his boules team and cycle team from paying anything towards the income of filton council!
I would say this safely tells us that this councillors has the wrong priorities yet again. Very disappointing performance.”
