Shock tackles are not the preserve of the Premier League as any local footballer will know.

And there was no lack of commitment in the Bristol Premier Combination Cup semi-final between Roman Glass St George Reserves and South Bristol Central.

Photographer Tom Martin caught on camera this dramatic kung fu challenge by Central's Lee Rendall on Dan House of Roman Glass St George this weekend - a move Eric Cantona would be proud of.

The former Manchester United star was banned from the game for nine months, fined £20,000 and sentenced to 120 hours of community service for a kung-fu style leap into the crowd at Crystal Palace back in 1995.

Fortunately this flying lunge at Abbotts Leigh in Bristol was without injury to the St George player but Rendall escaped being shown a red card.

St George won the match 3-1 and will meet AEK Boco in the final at AXA on May 6.

“This player has now been released from SBC and will not play at this club in the future and we have taken his white boots from him stopping him playing elsewhere.”

“I would NOT be proud of this tackle. This looks like a shocker and the player concerned should be ashamed of himself”
