A Knowle artist is holding her first solo exhibition in Bristol, entitled Shyshy next week.

Claire Louise Barrie, 24, also known as Puppy Fat, will be exhibiting her paintings for sale for the first time at Broadwalk Arts, in Broadwalk Shopping Centre, from Sunday to Saturday, August 22, from 11am to 5pm.

Miss Barrie, of Redcatch Road, has created a collection of acrylic and gouache paintings and pencil drawings that "echo the dreamy adventures and colourful imagination of childhood, a time before fixed boundaries of reality".

More than 20 originals of different sizes will be available for sale, as well as prints and postcards of the work.

Last year, Miss Barrie's Hideout table construction won first place at Bristol Design Festival. Miss Barrie grew up in Bristol, and did an art foundation degree at Weston College, before going to Leeds University to study product design.

She said: "When I was at university, I did art in my spare time, and during the last year I entered an art competition and won."

She added: "I'd describe my work as fantastical and surrealist. The Shyshy exhibition tries to capture the feeling of being a kid, recreating the wonder of the world from the point of view of a child."
