Newcomers Knowle were emphatically put to the sword when they lost by 108 runs to reigning Premier One champions Bath.

Having been put into bat, Bath made 283-7 with opener Peter McGlashan hitting 144 off 123 balls, including 15 fours and three sixes.

Richie Ricketts led the fightback, scoring 61, but the remaining batsmen fell cheaply with Knowle skittled for 175.

Nick Trainor hit 84 as Frocester beat Downend by 67 runs. Having made 224-9, Frocester then restricted the South Gloucestershire team to 157. Phil Jackson, who had earlier taken 2-80, top-scored with 42 for Downend.

Having restricted Bristol to 132-9, the Seasiders suffered a wobble when they lost five wickets for 22 runs. Robert Holman top-scored with 46.

Mitchell Windsor (53) and Callum Haggett (65) put on 92 for the second wicket as Bridgwater claimed a winning draw at Glastonbury.

Having made 224-6, Bridgwater were unable to bowl out their Somerset rivals with Samridh Agarwal taking 4-23. The hosts made 137-9 with opener Reg Keates top scoring with 60.

Openers Steve Snell and Peter Dennett hit 64 and 54 respectively as Corsham claimed a winning draw against Taunton St Andrews.

In Premier Two, Bristol West Indians made hard work of chasing Keynsham's 159 to win by a wicket at the Rose Green Centre.

Graham Williams scored 62, but he was not supported by the rest of his Keynsham colleagues.

The Windies made a slow start before Ashur Morrison's 54 from 89 balls put them on the road to victory.

Thornbury thrashed Ilminster by 107 runs with skipper Richard Trotman finishing three runs short of a century, while Nick Willis-Stovold hit 65.

Trotman and Chris Dent both took three wickets as Ilminster were all out for 178. Gary Larkham hit 53.

Cheltenham, relegated to Premier Two last summer, lost their opening match by 66 runs to Chippenham.

The visitors made 226-7 with Paul Bates (60 not out), Steve Silk (58) and Neil Pocock (52) all scoring half-centuries.

Despite Jackson Thompson hitting 93, Cheltenham were all out for 160 with Clifton Folkes taking 5-40.

Trowbridge claimed a three- wicket win over Taunton with Marcus Brown taking 5-37. James Bryant hit 68 in Taunton's 131.

Peter Hickerton cracked an unbeaten 70 to see Trowbridge home but seven batsmen failed to reach double figures.

Taunton Deane beat Warminster by 124 runs with Phil Saxby hitting 81 not out and taking 4-17.
