Know your sports history: Events from November 29
1897: Charles Jarrott, riding a Fournier, won the first-ever motorcycle race around a track – at Sheen House, Richmond.
1975: British racing driver Graham Hill was killed when the light aircraft he was piloting crashed on to Arkley golf course near Elstree in Hertfordshire. Also killed was Tony Brise, a promising young driver.
2000: Stoke suffered their heaviest home defeat in 97 years, losing 8-0 to Liverpool in the League Cup.
