KEYNSHAM Town will be bidding to maintain their promising start to the season when they host a Yeovil Town side who will be making their first appearance in the FA Premier League on Sunday.

The all-Somerset clash at the Crown Field sees the Glovers make their Southern Division debut after winning the South West Combination last season.

Keynsham opened their campaign with a 4-0 win at QPR, although they suffered a clutch of injuries in the process.

Another side making their first outing at a higher level this weekend are Bitton, who won the Division Two title in the Gloucestershire County League last season and open their Division One campaign with a home game against Forest of Dean.

But the County League has lost another club, with Division Two side Newent Town forced to withdraw. Like Yate Town, who also announced their withdrawal, Newent were struggling to raise a team.

Among the new recruits in Division Three are Shirehampton and SCS.

Oldland Abbotians secured their second point in a row when they held fancied Bristol Ladies Union to a 0-0 draw in the Premier Division of the SW Regional League.

BLU came closest to scoring when they hit the woodwork, but Oldland failed to take a good one-on-one chance which could have sealed the points near the death.

Oldland assistant boss Steve Lavis said: "At least we are showing some resilience, which wasn't the case over the early stages of last season."
