Keynsham Town Under-12s finish Avon Youth League season on a high
Keynsham Town A Under-12s finished their season on a high and regained fourth spot in Division I of the Avon Youth League following a 4-1 home victory over Bitton.
Harry Neill scored twice, taking his total for the season to 24, after Sam Jarman's precise early strike had sent Keynsham on their way. Dan Colquhoun rounded off the scoring late on after playing a neat one-two with Sam Black.
Rory Coles nearly grabbed a fifth but his shot from Ollie Richards' through ball was cleared off the line.
Under-12 Division II champions-elect FDS Bristol followed up their 4-0 midweek success at Brislington Juniors with a 7-1 victory over Bromley Heath United at Emersons Green.
FDS took the lead courtesy of an own goal, but Heath equalised shortly after through Matt Weymouth. However, further strikes by Rashaun Keeling-Graham and Kieran Baldie ensured FDS led 3-1 at the break.
Although Bromley continued to rally in the second half, they were frustrated by a staunch FDS back line led by man-of-the-match Will Bentley.
In the end, four more goals from Baldie, Myles Cammock-Jones, George Ufumwen and Tom Head ensured FDS collected three valuable points.
Leaders Shirehampton Colts B turned in a below-par performance when it mattered most to put their Under-13 Division V title chances in serious jeopardy.
Needing a win to secure top-table honours, Shire slipped to a 4-1 defeat at Bitton B.
Sam Khavandi cancelled out an early Bitton goal but Shire could find little of their recent form after the break and Bitton took advantage to score three more. Had it not been for goalkeeper Mike Battersby, the margin of defeat could have been heavier.
Bristol Rovers JSC bounced back from going a goal down to beat Bitton 6-1 in Under-15 Division I.
Bitton went in front with a George Yates penalty but Rovers roared back as Tom Shopland tucked home a cross from Dom Haugh-Stewart to equalise on 25 minutes before Matt Latt got on the end of Billy Bond's cross to give them the lead.
Great work from Jordon Headley set up Ben Cush to open Rovers' second-half account and Jake Jackson increased the advantage to 4-1.With 15 minutes left, Haugh-Stewart reacted well to poke home the fifth from close range, before birthday boy Jackson wrapped up the scoring with a fine individual effort.
Adrian Harvey took his tally to six goals in eight games for DRG Stapleton with a double in their 2-2 Under-15 Division I draw with AEK Boco.
Boco had swept into a two-goal lead before Stapleton and Harvey hit back to take a well-deserved point.
Bradley Stoke United clinched the Under-16 Division III title with a 3-0 victory over Ashton Boys thanks to two James Snook goals and a Kye Worner strike.
